The story, backdrop and setting (Screen play), I would like to keep my brief on this film as short as possible as that will be my way of hitting out at this below par, pathetic excuse of a film. The story is about the hero in this case VTV Ganesh who portrays himself as a loser all his life. He fails in his job (Dublin the bar & Singapore the country), his love life (Swarnamalya who really has to seriously do something about her girth if she wants to pursue an active career in acting) and in anything else he touches. He then finally meets Meera Jasmine who loves another ('Lil' Star) but for reasons known only to the author of this story she decides to marry VTV. Even after a blissful start to his wedded life VTV continues to indulge in ‘brainless’ short cuts (gambling, producing a film etc) to make his millions and predictably almost loses all that he ever cared for!  Finally, surprise! Surprise! How does our hero mend his ways, through divine ‘godly’ advice from his driver (Santhanam) who happens to be a master of all the Vedas and Upanishads, his sister Seetha and finally ‘director’ K.S.Ravikumar. Yes! I am not joking! In spite of my revealing the highlights of this bizarre film, do not let your curiosity take the better of you. Remember the age old saying “Curiosity killed the cat”.
The Climax takes you back to the days of ‘Pasa Malar’ for a brief moment and then puts you to sleep!
D.O.P.:-Standard Fare . Music:- Overkill with repetitive BG scores, Songs totally lost in the script. Edit:- The editor must have slept while watching the rushes.
The one’s I found wanting 1) The visuals which serve as the backdrop of the main titles lifted from the film ‘Vinnay Thandi Varuvayaa’(Was it to save costs?) 2) Why then shoot in Singapore & London. 3) I wonder what  Simbu, Swarnamalya, Meera Jasmine, Andrea and K.S.Ravikumar saw in this script which prompted them to lend their names or for that matter act in this film. I consider this a very brave gesture and highly charitable, the producer/director should be deeply indebted to them for life. 4) VTV Ganesh can, at best, act in supporting roles and most definitely does not have the image, charisma or the screen presence to make one sit through an entire film. 5) Santhanam and the rest of the cast were totally wasted and made no impact whatsoever in the film. Over and above all, the pathetically weak script and dull, dreary and boring narration totally sunk this film into oblivion.
Finally to conclude If it is of any consolation to the viewers, the director allows you the luxury of watching all the characters travel around in different cars - an Innova, Qualis, Merc and even a BMW. As an added bonus if you are a ‘Shirdi’ devotee you can repeatedly listen to ‘Shirdi Sai Baba’s’ ringtone, but to do this one has to have infinite patience to sit through the entire 2hr 04 mins of absolute pain and torture.
Finally to sum it all up, a quote: "If you plan to miss this movie, better miss it quickly; I doubt if it’ll be around to miss for long.”
Left right & Centre: -
I was a witness to one of the biggest walkouts in recent times. Believe me, I had no one sitting on my left, right or centre at the end of the film.
Bottom Line: - This film is a case study of the dictum –A film is a terrible thing to waste!
Until next time,
