The story, backdrop and setting (Screen
play):- Backdrop of the story - Thailand
and Malaysia. The hero and heroine are two con artistes who resort to
blackmail, extortion and thievery to make a fast buck. The two decide to ditch
their unsavory profession and turn a new leaf. They take a train ride in
Malaysia in their quest to return to India. At about the same time an orphan
living in a Buddhist monastery in Malaysia also decides to get back to his
roots in India by boarding the same train. The head priest of the monastery
relieves the boy and pays him a substantial amount of money being the hard
earned wages of this boy during his stay at the monastery as an immigrant
worker. Four others passengers supposedly arch criminals also board the same
train in search of something mysterious which somehow finds its way into the
train. A Malaysian police inspector (in disguise) and his crack team in an
effort to nab the criminals are the other passengers in this train. What takes
place in the train forms the rest of the premise. The director of the story is
either foolhardy, plain stupid or a dare devil to have even attempted to
conceive such a premise leave alone shoot such an insipid and nonsensical film
which can only be termed as TOTAL CRAP!
Acting: - There is not even a semblance of
acting or performance in this film which is worthy of a mention. Every actor in
this film is like a headless chicken running all over the screen valiantly
attempting to do something but ends up doing nothing! The screenplay and the conceiving
of scenes are so pathetic that I have simply no words to describe it. However
hard I try to make something out of this premise I end up with null!
Delivery of dialogues:
- The hero delivers
dialogues with a lisp! On the whole it gives you the feeling of watching a
badly dubbed flick!
Camera: - The D.O.P of this film is on his
own trip! He has his own (camera) screen play as I would like to term it. He
has a few scenes inside the train, a few on the platform, a few song and dance
scenes, a few fight and stunt scenes, a few outdoor shots and few more picture
post card scenes showcasing Malaysia and Thailand. All this strung together
visually form the disjointed visual finale!
Music: - Dharan
Kumar is another technician on his own trying very hard to establish
himself as a music director through this film. His songs and B.G have very
little relevance to what is happening on screen.
Art: - I don’t think this department had any part to
play in this film.
Choreo:- The hero and heroines are such
horrendous dancers that I felt sorry for the choreographer!
Stunts: - 3 stunt masters pulling in different
directions. One inside the train, one on top of the train and one on the
ground! The fight scenes are an embarrassment to the viewers!
Edit:- What could this poor technician do
but just to stare in disbelief while watching the rushes!
Finally to sum it all
up, a quote: “Why should people go out and pay money to see bad films when they
can stay at home and see bad television for nothing?” Samuel Goldwyn
Left right & Centre:
- You look at this
film from any direction – it’s a total DISASTER!
Bottom Line: - So short of substance, so
lacking in vigour and so forgettable that it's just not possible to work up a
good hatred!
Until next time,
Director Haricharan
